Nestled in the heart of upscale South Bombay, this one of a kind apartment is a dream project to undertake. The designer was given an empty terrace floor plate to create an interesting layout for a young couple which contains interior spaces opening onto a vast garden.
The designer chose to custom design each detail of the apartment from the marble inlay work to tailor made furniture and landscaping. She carefully articulated a selection of accessories from her trusted suppliers to bring warmth and uniqueness to the space she furnished.
Presented with an opportunity to be flexible with space planning, Mumbai based interior designer Jannat Vasi decided to maximize the daylight streaming into the interior spaces. Even though the designer is known for her modern aesthetic approach, she personally loves to create eclectic and textural interior spaces that have a provocative vibe, which is kind of her wheelhouse. The designer believes that the most important aspect of creating successful design is having a synergy with the client.
This stunning apartment was originally an open terrace. The residence boasts an impressive 2000 square feet designed for a private HNI couple, laid out over one floor.
As well as having an incredible view of the Mumbai skyline, the home enjoys a spacious open plan living and kitchen, a large master suite with a walk in wardrobe and master bathroom, one powder room, a grand foyer and a lovely outdoor terrace that wraps around the beautiful rooftop home.
The brief for this impressive project was to attain an elegant and homely space in
Jannat Vasi’s infamous style. Successfully, the luxurious home stays true to Jannat’s design philosophy and signature style of bold colours, embossed textures and unique surface treatments. You will also find patterned marbles and small accents of gold that give the modern property a traditional twist.
The main challenge when designing the house was to create a light framework for the new structure on the roof floor plate for load bearing constraints. The existing water tanks and air conditioning units for the building had to be relocated and concealed into the design.
However, as a result, we were able to achieve 16 feet high ceilings and a flexible layout without typical structural restrictions.
In addition to the majestic terrace, the interiors are glamorous and truly timeless whilst remaining cosy and inviting, creating the perfect getaway.
